4 half days Off Piste Performance Courses for Mountaineers with Bass Instructor Alison Culshaw, BASI ISTD & MIA

  • Course designed for mountaineers wanting to expand into the realms of ski touring and "steep and deep" off piste.  Over the last 2 years the course has been attended by everyone from Aspirant Mountain Guides preparing for their final ski exam to Seasonaires looking to ski powder like the best of them.

  • If you’re a mountaineer wanting to expand into the realms of ski touring and “steep and deep” off piste then this is the course for you.  Unlike most piste skiers you will already have a good understanding of avalanche and mountain hazards – you just need to get your skiing dialled !  The course will focus on all aspects of off-piste performance from different snow types to flat light, steeps and bumps.

The course is being run by BASS Chamonix, with Alison Culshaw instructing.  Alison holds the International Ski Teacher Diploma and Mountain Instructor Award. She is also a former Scottish Team racer, and likes nothing more than challenging off piste and touring.  Alison’s enthusiasm and patience will ensure that you get the very best out of this course.

The course will be based in Chamonix, making use of the world class off-piste venues that the valley offers.  The five day course will consist of a three hour session of focussed tuition each day giving you the rest of the day to practice.  There is also a day off in the middle of the week for rest, or consolidation.

Course Dates for winter 08/09 are:

    • 8th – 12th Dec (with the 10th as a rest day)

    • 16th – 20th Dec (with 18th as a rest day)

    • 12th – 16th Jan (with 14th as a rest day)

The cost of the course is £145 and groups will be a maximum of 6 people.  Whatever your level, if you want to really get to grips with the challenges of the off-piste World, book a place on this course now!

"I attended the Off Piste Performance for Mountaineers course run by Alison Culshaw.  I would highly recommend BASS and Alison to anyone wanting to improve their off-piste ski performance whether you are a budding Mountain Guide or just keen to hit the steep and deep.  Bon ski!

Rob Jarvis, MIC, Aspirant British Mountain Guide, Fort William.

“With my Guides Ski Test rapidly approaching I enrolled on the early season Off Piste Performance for Mountaineers Course.  The course was excellent and gave just the right balance of coaching and mileage.  I passed my final Ski Test, and now recommend Alison to all my clients wanting to improve their skiing”

Stuart Macdonald, British Mountain Guide, Chamonix.

“Skiing courses are often very expensive, but this course represents excellent value for money.  For about the same price as my five day ski pass I enjoyed superb lessons every day.  Each day was well structured, and focused on our individual needs.  I would recommend this course to anyone”

    Pete Rowlands, MIC, North Wales
